We’re In This Together.

•  30.January.2013

I wasn’t actually going to go back to ALT Summit this year. I know, I know – what was I thinking?! Well, with an intense couple of months of travel rounding out 2012, I figured I’d sit this one out and stay home for the entire month of January to rest, recoup, and rev up for what is seeming to be one of the best years to come. BUT after some deep consideration, and a few conversations with close blogging buddies, I realized that the reasons I go to ALT far outweigh any necessity not to go.

The number one reason I go? Honestly, not for the classes or pressure to dress impeccably well for 5 straight days, but because of the people. My friends (new AND old) who constantly remind me that we are: IN THIS TOGETHER. These shots from the Smilebooth (although quite mortifying!!) remind me that my blogging friends are those people in my life that make me feel not alone but part of a community, part of something bigger. The relationships I’ve built and maintained during my time at ALT are some of my most cherished friendships today. There is something that comes with immersing yourself amongst like-minded individuals for an intense week of connection. It just makes you feel enlightened, alive, and absolutely inspired.

My new friend James Moes, asked me yesterday over lunch why I blog. It doesn’t usually take me long to answer that question, but after just coming off the high of ALT, I took a few extra seconds yesterday to consider why I spend as much time as I do on this site. The answer time and time again, is pretty simple. Blogging drives me to remember why I’m on this journey. It is that daily reminder to hustle, work hard and create to my heart’s content. Blogging is my daily entry into the creative world and reminds me of the deep connections, friendships and partnerships I’ve made over the past four years. I can’t imagine not having my blog as that outlet to push me to continue working towards my dreams.

A quick shout out to all of my fabulous gal pals in the wildly amusing pics above! Follow these lovely ladies on twitter to keep up with all of the amazing creative adventures they are on: @megangilger @parkeretc @houseofearnest @MEdgemont @cydconverse @cupcakescutlery               @gather_and_hunt  @afabulousfete.

A special thank you to ALL of my blogging friends near and far (especially those I’m not embarrassing in these photos above). Thank you for making me feel like I’m on the right path. For reminding why we are on this exciting journey called life together. Your comments, hugs, smiles and words of encouragement this past week at ALT will keep me driven and inspired for many years to come. I adore you all and am so grateful to have you in my life.

I love these! The smilebooth was such a good time :) I totally agree when it comes to the connection ALT makes you feel. When I was nervous about going this year since it was my first one, my boyfriend reminded me that I’m going to meet my people and that made it all much more clear in my mind!

Keep it up!
