I sometimes ask my self “what is all the effort for?” The sleepless nights, the sore fingers, the watery + blood shot eyes, the crick in my neck, the frustration/agony/joy/torture of it all. But I’m instantly reminded that styling and design are those things that time and time again make me not jump, not hustle, but LEAP from bed in the morning. They are the things that keep me staring at my computer screen til’ the wee hours of the morning, willing myself to continue creating, continue seeking inspiration, continue on the path.
The best part of it all are those days when I’m on set…watching all the countless hours of prep time, hard work and effort pay off. Witnessing the dream become a reality. Being on set is the thing that keeps me going – it’s that time when I feel most alive. My time on set, always a surreal moment, as if I’m living outside my body, floating above, all the while smiling down until my cheeks hurt. And lucky for me, today is one of those days. Honestly if I think about it long and hard enough I could cry.
I’ll be spending the next 10+ hours on set styling a shoot I designed and I couldn’t be more happy about it. I also have the luxury of working with a team that makes me absolutely giddy…their talents and amazing personalities an absolute privilege to be in the presence of. I cannot wait to share some behind the scenes stuff, the team that made it all happen and of course the images of the shoot when they’re done. More to come soon, but for now the inspiration board that got the ideas rolling.
