I spent the better part of last week 30 minutes outside Atlanta, Georgia attending Joy Thigpen’s creative direction & styling workshop. The workshop was held at the most insanely beautiful place I’ve ever seen state side : Serenbe. Serenbe is a 1,000 acre sustainable community in the middle of Georgia where the community focuses on energy efficiency, land preservation and green building (you can learn more about Serenbe here). Let’s just say this place literally took my breath away and was the clean, sensible dose of goodness I was in need of. My roommate Trish and I shared Loft No. 13 during our stay and GORGEOUS details outside the loft and along the streets of Serenbe were in abundance.

I think one of the things I loved most about having the workshop in Serenbe’s community is that it felt as though I’d been dropped right in the middle of Pleasantville. The homes surrounding the community were STUNNING and the afternoon walk I took the day I arrived left me wishing I could pack up Adam, Bailie Bug & all our belongings and move to Georgia right then and there.

It was so much fun meeting so many other women who have the same ambitions, dreams and desires as I do for my own brand. Hearing Joy talk about her own path to creative direction and styling events made me feel like there really is hope in making my dreams as a stylist and creative director a full-time gig and that there are people out there that value the beauty & discipline of great styling and design.

One of my favorite and most challenging aspects of the workshop was the floral design part. I made an attempt at my first bridal bouquet and centerpiece and was actually quite impressed with myself…despite my nerves I was able to come up with something that at least resembled a bouquet…yay!

More pictures of my adventures at Serenbe and Joy’s workshop coming later this week, including a sneak peek into my morning walks to the farmhouse for breakfast. One word? Dreamy!
