On The Nightstand.

I don’t know about you but I’ve always struggled with finishing books. I fall under that classic storyline : purchase book, read 10 pages, put book down, forget about book, pick up book before bed, fall asleep 2 sentences in, misplace book, never finish book. Yep – a vicious cycle. The only time I can actually finish a book is when I dedicate the time to reading them on vacation. I rarely commit time to reading them in my day-to-day routine, but that has definitely gotta change soon!

One of my business goals this year is to read more. I want to read not just business related books (so many good ones out there!), but also books for pleasure and fun too. By taking the time to sit down and read, I’m not only allowing my body and brain to slow down and relax in silence, I’m giving myself the opportunity to open my mind to other forms of inspiration.

I really do enjoy immersing myself in a good novel and am looking forward to actually counting the books I read and completed this year on more than one hand. I’m also gonna make it a point to read in places other than my bed, and move those books a bit farther away from the nightstand. What about you? What books are you reading right now?? Any must reads?

Hello! Me too! Just between you and me, it took me A YEAR to read Murakami’s 1Q84!
I also want to read more in 2013 and I’ve also just started reading more business books. At the moment I am reading ‘The Martha Rules – Ten essentials for achieving success as you start, build or manage a business’. It’s pretty good. Have you read it? Which business books can you recommend?

i have 3 on the go at the moment-but that probably means I will only ever finish one of them as I won’t get into the other two! I have just finised The Sealed letter which I really enjoyed and have started Tiny Sunbirds Faraway and I can tell I am really going to like it.

Bossypants and The War of Art are both fantastic! You’ll love them.

I love this post! That is exactly how I am when I read at night. It’s a travesty. However, I am in the middle of Bringing Up the Bodies (about Anne Boleyn) and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. I never read it in school so am revisiting and it is awesome.

Reading is a HUGE part of my life and my goals! I highly recommend GoodReads to help you keep track of what you’re reading and be inspired by your friends. It’s like Facebook for readers. Last year I set a goal to read a book a week and was psyched to just squeak past that goal with 54 books read!
