Ok, I Admit It.

Yep I admit it. I watch The Bachelor. Okay, Okay. CORRECTION. I have watched every last episode of The Bachelor and its counterpart The Bachelorette since the first season. Yes – that includes, before, during AND after those final rose specials too. Full disclosure here today my friends!

There have been years where I’ve been ashamed to admit I made it through an entire 3 months of torture, being horribly disappointed at the end by the final choice (can you say Jake + Vienna, or Ben + Courtney?! Good grief!). And I’m fully aware I may very well lose some credibility for admitting my infatuation with this “reality” show, but believe me when I say my intentions are true. I’m (pretty sure) I like the show for the right reasons. I love watching people fall madly in love. I love watching those initial awkward moments. That even more awkward (and typically WAY too early first kiss). I love watching the final two guys or gals meet the families (WAYYYY more awkward!!) and I love watching those moments when you wonder how the heck they could be falling in love with more than one person at a time (yeah, don’t get me wrong…those are the moments when I wonder why I watch this stuff at all). But honestly I just love watching it because time and time again I’m hopeful for the resulting couple. Hopeful for their future, hopeful that people really can surpass anything (tabloid scrutiny and all) when they have found that special somebody. I mean what about Trista and Ryan, right?!!

Despite the multitude of cheesy things that happen season after season, the unrealistic $5,000 dates that ensue, and the endless nights of me rolling my eyes at the tv and screaming “she’s crazy! don’t pick her….noooooo!” I still keep coming back for more. And every time I exclaim that I will “NEVER watch this show EVER again if he/she picks them!!” … I still return year after year, getting all schoolgirl giddy when I see the promos and hear Chris Harrison confidently proclaiming “This season on The Bachelor/ette” OR “…on the MOST shocking season finale yet!” – so so good people!

And although I know there isn’t a single one of my married guy buddies out there who will admit it, I know there are husbands all across the country who love this stuff just as much as we girls do. They pretend not to watch, pretend not to care, pretend they can’t stand it, but week after week you can find them lingering near the door frame of the living room, wondering who’s going home next. Their invested in this lovely thing called “love” just as much as we are…heck…that’s why they watch it with us right? Cause they love us so?? And if you really push my own husband to spill the beans, you’ll even get him to start talking about his theory that the entire series of The Bachelor/ette is all a result of the infamous Brad Womack. Adam swears that EVERYTHING traces in someway shape or form back to the guy. Just hearing Adam list back name after name of seasons past makes me roar with laughter and love him even more.

Please someone out there admit that they too watch AND love this drama? Do you find yourself glued to the tv every year just like me? Were you happy for Sean last night or were you wishing Lindsay was the final pick? I couldn’t help but be inspired by last nights episode when I woke up this morning and if I was forced to I would call today’s moodboard : final rose red. Ohhhhh yeah.

I laughed so hard at this post because it’s SO ME! Shhhhh, don’t tell anyone!!!! I’m a glutton for this crap, and yes, my husband always warns me, “Don’t watch without me!!” (although the choices he makes as far as who is pretty have me scratching my head…) So funny.

new to your blog lately — and I laughed out loud reading this — you perfectly described my relationship with this show! Kudos to you for the guts to admit it; I still hide my obsession for the most part … ;)

Guilty! I love the Bach – started watching last year after a coworker started a work poll and blog about it, and I’ve been hooked since! I can’t quite get my hubs to watch it yet, but he’ll come around, eventually. On a side note – have you ever read the Lost Angeles Bachelor blog recaps? They’re hysterical (especially coming from a man’s POV!): http://lostangelesblog.wordpress.com.

What? I didn’t know you watched it! I’m shameless about following that show and loving it. Damn, we totally should have had a finale party last night (Henry loves it too — he’d probably hate that I’m outing him on here, though – ha!) I love Catherine, and I was stoked Sean picked her. I really thought Lindsay was going to win though. Well…we need to have a season premiere party for The Bachelorette…am I right?!

I watched the first season of the Bachelor and loved that the runner-up, Trista, was the Bachelorette afterward. I thought Ryan was adorable and was happy they ended up together. Then I watched some seasons on-and-off but started following regularly again with Jason Mesnick. After Jason durmped Melissa for Molly I vowed not to watch again…but somehow can’t help myself and have watched every season since!

My husband is a commercial pilot so wasn’t always able to watch every episode – but always asked what was happening so he kept up with the drama. ha! It is sort-of a guilty pleasure, I guess, since our own lives are pretty much drama-free. And the show is filmed close to our town, so it is fun to see the familiar landmarks.

I’ve thought the Bachelors were all sort of meh (except Ben…until he chose Courtney) but adored Sean! This was the first season – since I started watching regularly with Jason – that I was really happy with the final. Actually, either choice would have been good but after seeing the proposal to Catherine I was so darned happy for them. And Lindsay was amazingly classy when she wasn’t chosen. I am crossing my fingers that Sean and Catherine defy the odds and they last!

So yes, I admit I watch it. But also admit that I haven’t told anyone!
