Today’s our last day in Paris and I’m not even gonna lie : I’m pretty sad about it.
Paris is likely my favorite place in the world and getting to be here for nearly twelve days during the beginning of the summer was both a blessing AND a curse. I feel so amazingly grateful to have had this time to ride bikes, laugh, eat yummy food and lay in the sun of the Jardin des Tuileries with Coli by my side and I’m so glad we took the opportunity to come. I will admit though that Paris felt different this time. Not in an absolutely horrible way, but in a “there are way too many damn tourists!” sort of way. My usually favorite street corners were filled with gobs of people, aimlessly wandering & buying junk from street vendors. Those monuments that I was able to enjoy in eery peace and quite after dark were still bustling at 2am.
Even the picture in this post is deceiving – a quite corner in Montmartre? Hardly. That day – Coli was dodging the gigantic school – aged crowd to our left and the elderly couple to our right whom just seemed to NEED to be in the photo.
Note to self : even despite the rain and cold weather, for me Paris is my favorite city in the OFF season. I’ll be back for sure, but it will probably only be with a large coat, scarf & gloves on hand.
LOTS of Paris highlights coming soon (more pictures than I can count!) including a little video too! Although…heading off to Italy tomorrow and Greece after that and I’m not sure how much internet connection I’ll have from here on out. Future posts may be a tad delayed.
Happy Memorial Day weekend friends! I hope you’re finding fab ways to soak up & enjoy that extra 3rd day of weekend!
