Complete Randomness.

•  19.February.2013

So today I feel all sorts of funky. Adam and I decided to follow through on our commitment to be more spontaneous this year and decided to hop on a plan on Saturday, frolic around London on Sunday, and head home on Monday. To say “my brain is feeling fuzzy” is the understatement of the week. Jet lag is a wicked little bugger, but in my opinion TOTALLY worth it.

We had the most amazing time (albeit most of our time was spent on a plane). After a restless weekend, I’ve been left with a whole array of random thoughts on this Tuesday afternoon as my mind settles back into our daily life…

1. Laundry sucks. I still haven’t fully unpacked from ALT…yikes, right?!! Can only imagine how long it will take me to unpack from this weekends short jaunt.

2. I always drop the ball during Oscar season. Every year I’m so remorseful for not seeing more of the top contenders before the big show. Gonna try to sneak in a few before Sunday…any suggestions/must sees?

3. No matter what we order, Adam’s food always tastes better than mine.

4. I don’t think my dog likes me on some days. She has been throwing the stink eye my way ALL day.

5. I’m think I’m ready to be a grownup. I’d been resisting it for a really longtime, but finally feel like I’m easing into the status.

6. It’s weird how some days make me never want kids (Friday’s photo shoot), and other days make me ready to hop on the baby train ASAP (cute little chunky Eloise who sat next to us our flight home from D.C. made my ovaries throb).

7. Finishing a book feels REALLY good! It’s been far too long since I read one from beginning to end.

8. We’re getting chickens. Yep – chickens in the city. Our dear neighbors are building a coop in our backyard. FRESH eggs for breakfast are right around the corner!

9. My dream to live in Europe is at an all time high. I make sure to remind Adam of this every single day.

10. Finding the time to STOP doing things is really hard.

11. I can’t see very far into the future right now. It kinda scares me, but is exciting too.

12. I’ve noticed I’ve been REALLY bored with t.v. lately. Hearing all this talk about Downtown Abbey makes me want to start some new series.

13. Dried apricots are yummy. So are dried pineapples. These things are the only way I’m surviving Paleo.

14. Somedays I want to give up on my career goals. Today is not one of them.

15. There aren’t any good breakfast burritos in Seattle. Makes me want to start a food truck inspired by our favorite hole in the wall in Denver. Where are all the burritos PNW?

16. The sun is out today. Thank heavens.

17. I wanna get out and play in nature more often. I think I’ll make this my newest goal.

18. I adore my girlfriends. Each one of them inspires me in a different way. This makes me want to throw a party in their honor…

19. Speaking of girlfriends I miss my best friend. Vanessa you live too far away, and are constantly in my thoughts.

20. I’m pretty sure I hate shellfish. Just saying.

Pictures from our whirlwind U.K. adventure coming later this week. I hope you are enjoying your Tuesday! Heading out to enjoy some of this sunshine…woot woot!

I like everything about this post! So many of these make me think of my own random thoughts :) I have felt all too scattered lately, so it’s nice to be reminded that I’m not the only one!

I cannot believe you both just dropped everything and hopped on a plane for London! I can’t wait to see your pictures. Shellfish? They’re disgusting. Good call.

Right?!?! I can only do crab occasionally or intensely coconut battered and friend shrimp, but everything else is so so gross! I’m definitely a texture person and their sliminess just prevents me from even giving them a chance!! I want to like them but I just CAN’T do it! Glad to hear I’m not the only one who finds that food group so nasty! ;)

Chickens!!!! I want to come and cuddle some chickies. Glad you’re back! Date night soon!

Yep – you best come over and visit our chickens once they get here :) I’m not actually sure what to expect…should be an adventure and YES! Date night SOON!

I can help make TV less boring for you. Here is your list:
- Downton
- Game of Thrones
- Girls
- House of Cards
- Parenthood
- Modern Family
- Friday Night Lights
- Nashville
- New Girl

Go get em. Serious I watch them and work out. It keeps me motivated.

Girls, New Girl & Modern Family are the best aren’t they??! Already got those on my list and will definitely add a few of the others you suggested. Have never heard of House of Cards and hear so many good things about Parenthood. How do you watch and workout?? Do you have a treadmill at home?? Teach me!!

Wow! I can’t imagine hopping on a plane like that! Good for you guys. My husband and I were surprised how much we enjoyed ‘Flight.’ Definitely recommend. Oh, and ‘Silver Linings Playbook.’ Honestly though, there are so many great nominations this year.

Taco de Mexico? Also, Nashville is totally my present-day 90210. Such good trash. And some darn good costumes.

I have been reading your blog for a while and adore it! I too am a nurse with a passion for change… And think there is a lack of breakfast burritos in Seattle… Or really good Mexican food in general…. I suppose the best one ive had though is at bang bang cafe :-) thanks for sharing your spontaneous thoughts!

I’m new to your blog but I saw you on creativeLIVE and I now love your blog and this post in particular. :) Weekend trip to London sounds incredible. And if you haven’t seen Revenge – it’s a really good cheesey primetime drama but you’d have to start from the beginning.

Wow! That kind of spontaneity is really admirable! I have a really tough time with jetlag, so I don’t think I would adjust that well to that kind of whirlwind. Or is it better because you don’t even take the time to adjust to the new time zone?

I like your random thoughts! It’s good to know that other people’s thoughts are as scattered as my own!

Breakfast burritos are my favorite food! Definitely nothing good around Seattle ( I’m about 30 mins North), but I would recommend the Jam on Hawthorne in Portland, OR. Best breakfast burritos ever!
